‘Carer’ support work may be integrated with an individual’s care pathway, however not all those with a mental health problem will want others involved. This is why the care collective also offers support to carers, whether the person with difficulties is in treatment with us or not. Another frequent barrier to carer support is access to this outside working hours.
The care collective can provide one-to-one or couple support from professionals to carers, in-person or on-line using video-conferencing. We are developing a programme of evening carer support sessions, with the aim of running evening carers support groups from early 2019. The aims are to provide greater understanding of the mental illness, how best to support your loved one and how to care for yourself.
